Two-time Grand National winner Tiger Roll will compete for a third victory in April.
Trainer Gordon Elliott says prior to returning to Aintree, that the nine-year-old will contest two races at the New Year.
Jockey Davy Russell will, partners again by winning back Nationals tiger Roll, that emulated Red Rum.
Although the intention is not to race during this season, he is also being readied for a bid to win a fifth Cheltenham Festival.
“We are going to have to head him now and pick and choose where we go,” Elliott said in an interview with Aintree Racecourse.
“He will likely have a single run over hurdles, possibly something like the Boyne Hurdle [in Navan in February] again.
“He’ll return to Cheltenham [in March] for the Cross Country race then we’ll go to the Randox Health Grand National.”
BBC Horse Racing correspondent, cornelius Lysaght:
This isn’t any shock – can owner Michael O’Leary and staff potentially resist chasing a piece of history? However there had been some rumblings about the horse becoming weight.
Obviously, he’ll get plenty but, such as Red Rum, that horse positively thrives at Aintree, making the obstacles that are famous appear easy as he dances around them.
And if those of us who grew up watching’Rummy’ in the 1970s will consider him you have to be a certain age thus a brand new legend is great to remember at all.
