European-Style Sportsbooks: Bad for Everyone
Types of Sportsbooks and the Right to Refuse Action
At least dozens and probably hundreds of sportsbooks in my lifetime have refused both actions. I believe that this is how it is for anybody who has produced any good quantity of money in sports.
I don’t begrudge the majority of these novels and honestly feel lucky that a few of these actually paid me. I’m not too proud to acknowledge that most of what I beat these novels on were matters that are among the simplest to beat in sports gambling – props, miniature sports, and ancient lines in medium-sized sports where everything moves two points or equivalent. For the big things I wager in the usual major books which are comfortable booking the action, and have no trouble getting down to the day although I’ve been limited to a level at a couple, sadly in the few bigger sports that I really like.
In my opinion, sportsbooks don’t have any sort of obligation that is ethical to have a bet unregulated offshore sportsbooks. With controlled sportsbooks there is a bit more of a debate to be made, however even regulated sportsbooks are quasi-private companies that exist to make money, and can’t be expected to take a beating from sharps and do nothing about it. And it’s a really tough industry in which to make any money, especially today; if you look at the earnings reports of the major regulated novels, they’re not all that lucrative. Most make a pathetic proportion of the net win after paying for marketing taxes, and expenses, and some actually lose money.
