Steve Clarke urges Scotland to learn from Russia defeat against San Marino
Steve Clarke has urged his Scotland side not to dwell on their defeat to Russia but to rather learn the lessons as they prepare to confront Group that I minnows San Marino.
Scotland are fifth in the team using just six points entering Sundays round of games, 12 points behind second-placed Russia and a further three points adrift of Belgium.
On making it into Euro 2020 through the play-off area that leaves Clarkes side reliant they earnt after an effective National League competition, rather than the European Qualifiers.
The game against bottom club San Marino – however to register a target, let alone a point during qualification – has come at the ideal time and Clarke needs his players to turn in a favorable performance before their home fans at Hampden Park, live on Sky Sports.
Were just seeking to get over the disappointment of another night and get ready for our next match, said Clarke.
Whats gone is gonewe must learn from it. I believe in adversity you constantly find out more than when things are favorable, sometimes.
Thus we have to learn these lessons, stick together as a group and we have to turn the corner and what better way to reverse the corner in relation to the game tomorrow .
Clarke has verified Sunderland goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin will start in place of David Marshall as he looks to rotate some areas of the squad.
One that will be a certain change – plus it was a pre-planned shift – David Marshall will alter and Jon McLaughlin may play, added Clarke.
I desire another goalkeeper with additional caps, more expertise to perform. This was always intended.
